If it makes you feel any better, I had to go through two sets of braces, the second during my freshman year of college, and I've had horrible gum problems since puberty that necessitated two "debulkings" and a full-on jaw surgery.
But, ugh, root canal. My condolences, bb. I live in terror of the day the dentist says I need one. D:
