It's a good thing I wore the jeans WITHOUT the borderline-obscene holes in them. Or maybe it's not.

Finally, we got a cute male model!  That only took... 11 weeks, not counting the teapot-and-apple weeks.

Tommy

I'm very pleased with this -- even my instructor had little to critique.  Though I do wish I'd taken the time to at least draw an outline of shoulders so he looked less like a random floating head.  The drawing also looks a little better from farther away, but that enhances the floating-head effect, so here you have it.  Also, he had a cute little college-boy smirk that I didn't quiiiiite manage to capture, but other than that, I'm happy.  Sigh... not that I've had any complaint with the models so far (except the lady who made fun of me for getting charcoal on my face), but it was nice to have something pretty to squint and make odd concentration-faces at.

Edit: Hey, I was runner-up for a thing and no one told me!

Something Wicked runner up award

So I've got that going for me, which is nice...

Are you going to get to try nudes?

The figure drawing class was at an inconvenient time for me this "semester." And I'd love to try it, though I'd probably spend the first class or two fighting the inappropriate giggles.

I suspect faces are much harder to draw than the human body. They are not just angles and light, but reflect who the person is via eyes and minute shifts in the muscles.

A body, on the other hand, has wonderfully flowing lines. I think sketching nudes would be lovely.

holy. shit. that is quite a nice portrait, there. i'm a bit jelly. the attention to the shadows and the way everything stands out like it has mass is very pleasing.

Thank you! I was rather pleased with it, myself.
