Hmm, let's see... I was genuinely a little disappointed when (after I wrote this fic!) Chris gave an interview and said he would never take his date to a bowling alley. But maybe that just applies to the ladies -- he feels like he can be more himself and cut loose with Zach. I think they actually did go bowling together back in the day.
Also from the second part, I have had that conversation about the bases-as-a-sex-metaphor and its shameful lack of standardization multiple times. I really DID know a girl who included oral sex as part of first base. I didn't know her well enough to inquire as to the specifics of further bases. God alone knows what "home plate" was.
Our Thing:
Well, this is one that ended up being easily twice as long as I thought it would. And I was pleasantly surprised at how many people really loved it! I thought it was pretty good, y'know, but I didn't expect it to be a lot of people's favorite of mine.
Even though I wrote it from Chris' point of view, reading over it again, I really feel for Zach, and what he's putting himself through. Not to toot my own horn, but I like the consistency of my characterization of Zach here, even if he appears to do or say things that are contradictory. He's half in denial and half aware that what he's doing is pretty dangerous for his sanity, and that puts him in a really vulnerable place in the end. Good thing Chris is so sweet about it. ;o)
