Which of my fellow Pinto (or K/S) authors is on AO3?  Because I am attempting to go old school and save copies of fics to my hard drive just in case the internets explode and/or things get deleted.

BTW, I posted Turnabout Intruder to AO3, should you wish to bookmark it there.  Has anybody else noticed that when you post multiple chapters in one fic, the text of chapter two is always identical to chapter one, and you have to manually cut and paste?  Or is that just me?

all of my stuff is on AO3! that chapter thing definitely happened to me. i think it was only with chapter 2 always though. weird.

saving fics is a great idea though. it really sucks when things disappear, for whatever reason.

Yeah, only with chapter 2.

Before Delicious, I saved everything, so I have a ton of old X Files fic but no links to rec it to anyone. Which is just as well, because when you asked for het recs? I went through some of the old fics that I used to love and went O_o. Really, self of 10 (ack!) years ago? That is what we used to like?

Certainly that will not happen 10 years from now. ;o)

LOL! well, thank you for checking...glad i could send you on that journey back to your brain of 10 years ago ;-)

i already cringe at stuff i wrote 2 years ago...i guess if i'm cringing 10 years from now, at least that would mean I've gotten better?

I'm over there. :-) I think I posted Project Woo Rachel over there and tagged you as the recipient. ;-)

I love LJ to death, I really do, but I totally prefer AO3, which most of the people I know don't agree with. The format is just cleaner and easier for me to find things, now that I have some idea of how the site works. I wish all the good fic was over there, but most of it is still on LJ. I hope more people migrate, actually.

It's definitely better for longer fics, since you have the option of looking at it all on one page or downloading it (instead of pasting each part into a Word doc... fun times). It just has some weird quirks, like the chapter two thing, or the rich text editor deciding not to work, or your html edits randomly disappearing.

Also, getting kudos is great, but getting comments is better. :o)

I rarely post fic, and when I do, playing with and fixing the html and any formatting that's disrupted is actually one of my favorite parts to posting. (I am so weird, I know! LOL!) So that doesn't really bother me. And, since I'm predominantly just a fic reader, I love the search features most of all. I've noticed a lot more now that I've been using AO3 so much, that a lot of fic comms don't tag things. It's incredibly frustrating!! I'll be looking for a small pairing or a certain kink and there's no way of finding it on the comm.

Honestly, I am such a fandom nobody, and I tend to write such rare pairings/fandoms, that I don't really get many comments. So the kudos button is possibly my favorite thing ever. It's nice just knowing someone liked it, even if they don't give reasons.

That's true, and you get a hit count, which is nice. I think there's a feature on LJ where you can see your posts' hit counts, but damned if I know where to find it.

And you're right about searchability (is that a word?) -- gotta love those tags! One click and I can find all the vore fic on the sight! ;o)

The hit count actually drives me nuts, but I won't disable it. LOL! It's one thing to not get comments. It's another thing entirely to know I have a story that 100+ people have at least opened, and there's no kudos on it? Ouch! lol!

The tags feature is really incredible!! <3

You can find the stats on who visited your journal on the home page under Profile: Stats/My Guests. You might need to have a paid account though. But I find it kind of disheartening to see that <10% who read/stop by a fic leave a comment, so I don't often look at it. For some reason, I do LOVE the hit count feature on AO3 though. I guess because I don't expect comments there (which is also the reason i'll never stop posting on LJ!)

I don't know, I guess I lurked in fandom for so long that I find it heartening to have a high hit count, even if there aren't many comments. I don't think I left a single comment on a fic until AFTER I started writing them and realized how much they meant to the writer.
