Today's the day!

Dreamspinner Press has released Office Hours as a novella, available here.  This is the first time I've been published, and I couldn't be more grateful -- I feel like reading my Oscar speech in front of the mirror.  (Of course I have an Oscar speech.  Be honest; you do, too, somewhere in the back of your mind.)

One thing: if you should mention or write about this to anyone outside of the fandom (Perhaps you happen to have friends who enjoy M/M erotica independently of pop culture characters?  Surely those people exist.), I'd like it if you didn't link it back to the_deep_magic.  I'm trying to... compartmentalize, I guess, especially with the recent wank over selling repurposed fanfiction (to which I say :oP).  If I publish more -- and I hope to -- I may set up a separate blog for "Rena Butler."

Anyway, thanks to everyone who has shown love to my writing and given me the courage to send a story out into the wild like this (though it is well-armed with emdashes).  I PROMISE TO KEEP CRANKING OUT THE FREE PR0NZ AS WELL. ;o)

I also think it's really great that you keep this LJ separate from your published works. I work in publishing and I usually advise the writers to keep these things separate instead of just linking to their prior writing blogs all over the place.

Congratulations! I loved this story when it was Pinto. Is it an online book only, or is there a print version? I also like the art the gave you -- cute, not cheesy guys on the cover. Yea! :D

It's only offered as an e-book; only novel-length stuff gets actual print. And the artists were great -- I got to give tons of input on what I wanted (including how clothed I wanted the guys to be!) and they gave me several different options to choose from. I'm glad you like it, too!

I loved this story so I got my copy so I can reread! YAY for first releases! There's nothing like that feeling.

Yeah, the wank in the m/m ebook world lately has sucked and not in a good way. Don't worry, your compartmentalization is completely understood. I have to do quite a bit of that with my pen name because I've lost jobs due to my writing, and I only just got back on my feet from it after more than a year. I have to stay completely apart from my pen name. It's a fine line to walk.
