The student becomes the... student again

Sadly, I had to miss last week's drawing class, but we had a special model this week... the instructor.

It was only a little intimidating. I didn't get the jawline quite right, and he's not nearly as dour-looking in real life as he is here (all the people I draw look so sad), but otherwise, I quite like it. I finally managed to get some texture in the eyebrows.
This was my last class. It's being offered again at the same time with the same instructor for another 8-week session coming up at the end of March, and at least one other person in the class is going to be taking it again. The instructor I recommended I take it again, too, so I can get some more practice (probably doesn't hurt his wallet, either), and I'm seriously considering it. Yes, I could practice on my own using still photographs, but this method is time-consuming and messy and kind of hard to set up, particularly with two insane dogs running around the house, so I know despite my best intentions I probably wouldn't get around to it unless I had a class to go to every week.
The other class I'm considering is Intro to Watercolors because, well, they've always sort of vexed me. Even when I was a little kid in art class, I was all "PAINT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU ARE SPREADING OUT ALL OVER THE PAPER WHY WON'T YOU STAY WHERE I PUT YOU ARRRRRRGH." I figured some formal instruction might help me get that under control. Or it might be the thing that finally pushes me over the edge and sends me on a violent pigment rampage. Well, at least I know it'll come out in the wash.

Date: 2012-03-09 05:22 am (UTC)I'll be starting an anatomy drawing class next month for 8 weeks also.
You could also just do open studios, where there is a model but no structured class. It's usually nice and no stress.
