Hot damn I am on fire

You'll be happy to know that I redeemed myself after last week's fiasco in charcoal.

I'm really pleased with this one. I might have made her jaw a little too severe, but other than that, I really like it and I think I got the proportions just right. I love that I managed to get some texture into her hair, and I was SUPER happy that, from my angle, there were no ears to draw! Stupid friggin' ears, all whorl-y and stuff.
Her cheeks are so (comparatively) dark because the model had plenty of blush on to begin with, and of course had to sit under a hot lamp for 2 hours. However, this did not seem to please my drawing teacher, who despite always harping on "draw what you see," insisted her cheeks should have been lighter because that's where the light was hitting her. But he did help me out with some other stuff, like the nose shadow, and he's never mean about anything. It's just that he's forever asking me questions like "Is that really what X looks like?" to which I want to respond, "UM YES THAT IS WHY I DREW IT." He's more helpful when he's giving me concrete suggestions, which I usually follow. Usually.
All this and my Draw Something pictures still look like they're done by a five year old with motor control problems. It is embarrassing. Is there some kind of stylus for the iPhone?
Also, can I just say that I am endlessly amused by the new LJ cut graphic? THIS IS A CUT; YOU CAN TELL BECAUSE OF THE SCISSORS AND ALSO THE DOTTED LINE, WHICH IS WHERE YOU CUT. Never mind, I guess they got rid of that. Cryin' shame.
