So I actually managed to watch this episode last Wednesday; I just never wrote it up because I'm a lazy slob.  Anyway, I figure I'd better go ahead and do it before I watch the new one -- let's see how well I do at interpreting my notes.

  • Items of "Continuity": the five masked figures (which have something to do with fireflies and possibly came out of the Nemeton or "the door" or whatever) can drain body temperature and take away Lydia's banshee scream and may be after Chris, who has a broken mask of his own; so far they have attacked Isaac, Lydia, Ethan, Derek, and presumably killed Aiden, leaving what looks like a backwards 5 mark behind their ears; Stiles, acting under the control of something else, wrote the note on the chalkboard directing Barrow to kill Kira and may have been the one to let Barrow out in the first place; Harris apparently taught biology, too, which is now being at least temporarily taught by Lydia's mom; starting a few months ago, Kira started exhibiting some kind of fire-like aura (that "looks like a fox") in photographs and Barrow knew about it; Stiles and the Sheriff have some kind of dirt on Agent McCall

  • One thing that annoyed the hell out of me was the freak-out over the cell phone pictures.  What person who's not in on the supernatural shit is going to take a look at those glowy pics and assume something bad is going on?  They're going to think it's lens flare or "that Insteegram that the kids are using these days."  For seriously, I'm not even sure Mulder would take it as proof of the occult.  Definitely not worth risking Stiles' dad's career over.  Additionally, that whole sequence came off as the world's longest phone commercial; the suspense just didn't work.

  • Derek scaring the kids was funny, but who trick-or-treats in a parking lot?  The most supernatural thing about Beacon Hills is how shitty the parental supervision is.

  • Okay, the black-light rave was pretty cool (although Derek must not have any neighbors).  It was thoughtful of Danny to wear a tear-away shirt.

  • Setting aside the fact that Jeff Davis' idea of bisexuals lines up exactly with most straight men's idea of bisexuals, the scene with Caitlin was cute.  I loved that Stiles showed concern for her well-being first and then couldn't concentrate on kissing when there was a Mystery to be solved!  The tease about Stiles' possible bisexuality was bit frustrating, though.  Jeff Davis does fanservice in the weirdest possible way.  He brings back a minor character and presumably changes her sexual orientation, yet refuses to show much Stiles/Derek interaction.  I would applaud him for not bowing immediately to the wishes of the fans in that respect... if I didn't think it were a calculated ploy to keep those fans watching while not rocking the boat when it comes to queer main characters.  (Because as much as the fans love Danny, he is NOT a main character.)

  • The more Allison/Isaac I see, the less chemistry the actors seem to have.  Last half-season?  Yes, please!  This season: "I'm frustrated."  "Sexually?"  I actually groaned aloud at that.  I don't know when Crystal and Daniel stopped dating and that's what's making it weird, but I have not been buying Allison/Isaac at all so far in 3b.

  • Hee hee, Stiles!tongue.

  • Wow, it took nearly four whole episodes for Derek to get his ass kicked (well, in a fight, anyway).  Derek: the nu!Kirk of Teen Wolf.

  • The twist with Stiles was very well done, though I find it hard to believe he didn't recognize his own handwriting.

Ok, I'll watch the next ep and get back to you soon.  I hear it's a good one?  Here's to hoping.

Hi, I'm only two weeks late! And I can't remember off the top of my head what I was referring to, but at some point Stiles' tongue peeked out and I giggled.

Hiya
I was wondering where you were.
:-)

~The appearing out of the mist thing was cool, so I don't know exactly why they were frog-marching down the middle of the road. "The GPS is down, but I know it was around here somewhere..."

~Stop hitting Isaac.

~Why did the Sherriff's station ~not the same layout as last season~ have the swipe doors, but not lights or computers?

~Would they have school without power? Was 1.21 gigawatts a joke, or is that a real measurement?

~I bet the Hales LOVED Halloween.
I choose to believe there was a parent lurking in the background, I just have to.
Derek was so adorable. :-)

~Stiles was very cute with the "Its smarter" like that was his only consideration. I quite agree anyone seeing those would assume it was some weird filter trick. But I can see her panic, she doesn't know what's happening to her and is trying to keep it hidden. I noticed Stiles had a look of respect for her with the "That was awesome".
Wouldn't those cards be logged in? So it looked like Sherriff had gone in?

~The Rave...
I feel bad for Derek, he just keeps getting used. The smell in there is going to linger for a while.
I don't know what I think about Caitlin. She was presented to us as "really drunk" so if we see her again, I'm hoping there will be some sort of notice to her girlfriend dying. Since Jeff isn't writing these, I'm very cautiously optimistic.
Stiles was 100% wonderful, chasing after her and then getting distracted by his mystery. The water bottle was so sweet.
Scott is always so excited for Stiles when someone kisses him.
I liked Ethan's paint.
I care nothing for Allison and Isaac, they have a moment in the next one (um...spoiler?) and I still don't care.
Lydia was the only one who really panicked over the demons. She felt them immediately, and seemed to know they were very bad. Maybe because she's a girl, and not a werewolf, so she doesn't feel equal to starting a fight, but she seemed to get this was very very bad.
Should Allison's bra glow like that?

~Everybody had someone to cuddle them after they were attacked except Derek. :-(

~I laughed when the sword came out of the chest and Isaac was just, "yep, go get him"

~Scott knows Derek's roar. :-)

~I totally would have recognized my own handwriting...but maybe not right away if I was that tired.
?

I'm really liking character interactions, it keeps going in the next one. :-)
I don't cotton to redeemed twins, but I like what they're doing with them, and the boys (S&S) continue to be my delight.

In conclusion, More Danny!
;-)

Betcha thought I'd forgotten about this!

1.21 jigawatts is a reference to Back to the Future, though "gigawatts" with a hard "g" is a real measurement.

Since Jeff isn't writing these, I'm very cautiously optimistic.

How you feelin' now? ;oP

It was thoughtful of Danny to wear a tear-away shirt. *giggles* Oh, this show.
