Okay, dilemma time.

I have had by ST Big Bang fic open in the background all week and haven't managed to do any substantial work on it.  I am le stuck.  Problem is, I have been le stuck on it for a long time.  I really like what I've written so far, so I don't want it to go to waste.  But I'm at the point where I really don't see it being at 20,000 words by the end of the month.  Kink Bingo also ends on the 31st, and while I've got a few random squares done, I'd at least like to have a line bingo before the deadline.  Both of these things cannot happen.  Any advice?  Any penalty for pulling out of the STBB, other than shame?

The good news is that my Trek RPF Big Bang is past the 15,000 word mark and nearly done.  Also, it fucking rocks, so gird your collective loins come October.  Seriously, fireproof those panty drawers. ;o)

hmm... that's a tough one, though I think your writing is always epic so whatever you get a muse going for then that's what you should pick. I personally am in favor of you finishing up the big bang fic just because I like a longer read...anyways, I'm busy making cookies for when your done *waves spatula*

I can't say what to do... but I dropped out of my own bang because I just knew I couldn't do the story I wanted justice.

Sit down and try one last painful time to hammer that shit out, and see if you make any good progress... and if not, drop it. IDK?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I finished the RPF, haven't started the ST BB yet, have one last KB square I still need to do and no ideas for it. AGH. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Personally, I'm gonna give the ST BB my best go and hopefully bang out a KB fill in between when I need a break. And if I can't do it by 8/30 or something, I'll just bow out. So maybe the same plan of action would work for you?

I'm in a similar boat. I have 30k on my stbb right now, which isn't even the original one I wanted. But you know - it doesn't have to be perfect! Just a beginning, middle, and an end. I'm going for bare-bones style, at this point. There's the whole month of September to flesh it out, thankfully. ♥ The rough draft doesn't even need to be betaed.

AND YAY RPF BB! I guess by being in the same boat, I mean that I'm not done with that one either, but if I lose enough sleep, I should make the word count. I'm excited to read yours. ♥

yeah, i dunno what to tell you. i guess i'd tend to say go with the bb, because, yeah, you've got all of september to fix it. and kb, even if you don't make a line, they give amnesty, so...

i dunno, i guess that's my strategy.

however, i am still deluded enough to believe that i am going to do all three, so maybe i'm not the best one to ask for advice?

My feeling is that you shouldn't write anything you don't love - and certainly don't feel pressured to write by artificial deadlines. That is the fastest way to kill the joy of writing. You are so generous to fandom, sharing so much fabulous work, you're definitely entitled to take a rest on your laurels if you need to. :)

while im no writer myself (though i have been trying to write out a drabble for missestrella , a DRABBLE of some sort for one of her manips, and i feel like i cant get it right...), and im just an avid reader, i can only imagine how it feels to have that kinda pressure, and from that you dont really get the results you wanted in the first place, i'd imagine.

In my personal opinion, i think you write kick-ass Kirk/Spock, and not NEARLY enough of it. And i definitely dig loooooooong fics like WHOA. (seriously, when people get up there into the 10,000 or more, i feel like im reading some really good sexy/smutty/porntastic/shmoopy novels or something.) though taking a look at your kink bingo, itd be interesting to see what you'd come up with for, ex: furry, domestic, writing, hand or striptease. in the end though, id really love to see your STBB fic. i doubt that helps but its really up to you when it comes down to it.

and why do i feel that even if i spend the entire month of august and even more so for september, that i'll have to dish out 100$ or so for new undies? no matter how hard i gird myself? you damn tease you. 15,000+ words? i am. SO THERE.
