I procrastinate a little more
Sep. 30th, 2010 01:20 amRules: Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
babykid528 gave me White Collar, Bones, and CSI
White Collar
1. I only remembered the name of the show at first because I loved Tim DeKay in Carnivale, and when I saw a commercial, I was all, "Hey, that's Jonesy!" I always meant to watch it, but never did until I started to hear how slashy it was, and then someone posted that pic of Matt Bomer in a white t-shirt dumping a jug of water over himself and that pretty much convinced me. I NEVER SAID I WAS DEEP, OKAY?!
2. Hmm... I think I'll probably stick around about as long as the show lasts, but I doubt it will be a life-long thing.
3. "Vital Signs" has some great Neal/Peter/Elizabeth interactions. Oh, and the first season finale where Neal is sculpting while shirtless because seriously, you guys. (And I adore the DVD commentary for that ep -- that scene pops up and Tim's first reaction is, "Wow, Matt, you really need to start working out.")
4. Have dabbled in fic, would like to continue to dabble.
5. Absolutely! Even without the monumental slashiness (and it truly is something special), the show's a lot of fun and the writing is pretty consistently impressive. It's clever and it manages to subvert most of your expectations.
Bones
1. I resisted at first, because I had a friend who was way into David Boreanaz back in the Buffy days and he always struck me as kind of creepy. But I started hearing comparisons drawn to The X Files, and I am an absolute sucker for really good sexual tension, be it slash or het. And the Booth/Bones chemistry really is there. Sometimes it's the only thing there, but it's there.
2. Sigh... I'd actually like to get back into it more than I have. The past couple of seasons, I've felt like they've been trying to really force the chemistry with the plot and the (unfortunate) writing instead of relying on the actors to bring it across. I hope it gets better this season, but as far as fandom goes? I haven't seen any really high-quality fic come out since the first season. From the comms, it seems like this show is a lot of people's first entry into shipping and fandom, which is not a bad thing, but it does mean there are a lot of teenagers who overestimate their writing skills.
3. "Two Bodies in the Lab" -- the ep that spawned a thousand fics and a sudden, bizarre interest in the music of Foreigner. Plus Adam Baldwin, who is never not awesome.
4. Posted two incredibly schmoopy fics, also have one really porny one that may never be finished.
5. Eh, I don't know that I'd rabidly recommend the show or anything, but I would LOVE it if we could get some really good, mature writers in the fandom!
CSI (original recipe)
1. The first I heard of the show was on a cover of Entertainment Weekly, and my first thought was "Great, a dude and a redheaded chick team up to solve crimes; how original." But my college roommate was really into it, so I started watching and enjoyed it. (It's worth noting that she was all about the Sara/Grissom from the beginning, and I was all "you're crazy, it'll never happen" -- oops)
2. ..then all the TV networks started airing every single one of their even remotely interesting shows on Thursday, and CSI got pushed aside so I could watch Bones or House or my brief, shameful flirtation with Grey's Anatomy. And I pretty much lost all interest once Grissom -- and by then, half the original cast -- had left.
3. I loved the two-parter where Nick gets buried alive. It gave me honest-to-god chills, and poor Nicky suffers so well!
4. I read a few fics, but I never really shipped anyone (though after the aforementioned episode, I did try to search for some good Nick/Sarah/Greg fic -- I had this great mental image of Sarah and Greg climbing into either side of Nick's hospital bed and holding him)
5. If you haven't already watched it by now... don't start.
Also, can I just go ahead and express my disgust that both Bones and White Collar periodically turn into car commercials (for Toyota and Ford, respectively)? It makes me gag whenever it happens, and you can tell it absolutely pains the actors. I mean, sure, Scully and Mulder always ended up in a powder-blue Taurus, but they never fucking soliloquized over it. Really, it's about as subtle as that scene in The Truman Show where Laura Linney randomly picks up the can of cocoa and starts spieling about it and Truman is all "Who are you talking to?" BLARGH, I say!
Seriously though, I think I'll write a letter. Does anyone have any idea who I'd address it to?

Date: 2010-09-30 06:03 am (UTC)Nick'/George Eads' ability to convincingly cry is one of my all-time favorite things about that show. Nick was the whipping boy of that series, but DAMN, with emotive acting chops like that, how could a write resist abusing the fuck out of him? <3

Date: 2010-10-01 02:47 am (UTC)ooglingstaringdroolingpossiblyorgasmingupon it in the morning for 10-20 minutes everyday will ensure a great start to the day. Starting tomorrow.I believe that a few other men need to get together wearing white T-shirts and tight dark jeans, and dump water all over each other as well. Or I don't know, push each other into the pool and engage in, you know, sexy stuff. Because I can think of a few people who look good in white...
I don't think it necessarily hurts to start watching a TV series or a movie based on looks. (I wanna say that, hey were women, we tend to keep an eye out for gorgeous men.) I know after looking up Matt Bomer I totally got hooked on WC, because while there's a dozen crime shows, it nice to see a different take on them. That's just my opinion.
And I agree with [Bad username or site: ”ewinfic @ livejournal.com] on the updating of TW, ill just use lower case letters to express my thoughts on that. :D
Also, are we aloud to do that meme, or are we just to give you the fandoms? *doesnt mean to be stupid! *
