Okay, I know I have some chefs on my flist, so a question: I recently came into possession of some whole-wheat gnocchi with sweet potato filling, and I am more excited about them than any pasta probably deserves.  The package says to boil them for a few minutes, but doesn't give any serving suggestions.  What should I put on them?  Tomato-based sauce doesn't seem quite appropriate.  Thoughts?  And please remember that I'm functionally illiterate when it comes to cooking.

Also, I've been feeling a bit like a useless lump lately.  If anyone would like to gently kick me and try to snap me out of my lumpitude, I'd appreciate it.

butter and sage! butter and sage!

brown the butter, add fresh sage and season with salt & pepper, then toss with the gnocchi. hea-ven.

I'm seconding butter, sage, and salt and pepper. Absolutely. Never overpower gnocchi, especially with the sweet-potato kind. Eating it this way will almost be reminiscent of Thanksgiving or Christmas flavours! Make sure you don't overdo the sage - it'll taste wrong if you overload. Probably about a tablespoon, or two if it's a large amount? You can always add more. ♥ ♥

I actually LOVE doing a creamy tomato sauce with grated cheese over gnocchi but that's just me.

What might be really good is a bacon vodka creme sauce or you could sweeten it up with melted marshmallows on top...

Sweet potatoes, butter and rosemary are an amazing combination! So maybe some sort of butter based sauce. Or even a nice olive oil maybe.
