Okay, while I'm trying my damnedest to get some stuff finished, how about a meme? Because that will surely help my productivity... Anyway, I saw this on
1lostone's journal when I was going back through some old posts and I thought I'd steal it.
Give me a link to one of my fics and I'll give you a detail that didn't make it into the fic - it could be background canon, deleted material (if I still have it), the music that helped me set the mood or a look into the future - or it could be a question about inspiration, the writing process, research, etc.

Date: 2011-07-30 05:40 pm (UTC)Okay, story time -- when I was in the fifth grade, for some reason the school thought it would be a good idea to put a jukebox in the cafeteria so we could have music at lunchtime. Well, I don't know who started this, but Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance" was one of the few risque songs on there, so everybody kept using their quarters to play that song, and NOTHING but that song, all day. And every time it played, we would all yell the "OH MY MY, OH HELL YES" part along with the song. Of course, at the time I had no idea what "Mary Jane" referred to, I just knew I was being naughty for saying the word "hell." The jukebox lasted about a month.
Anyway, that doesn't have a lot to do with the fic, but when I was imagining the atmosphere in the seedy bar with an old-school jukebox somewhere in the background, "Mary Jane's Last Dance" immediately popped into my head, and it ended up being the perfect song to go with the fic. Also, I LOVE to imagine the look on the bartender's face when he'd seen them go into the bathroom all secretive and sexy, and they come out laughing and poking at each other.
And I was rather proud of some of the lines that still work with different meanings even after you know Chris isn't really a seedy bar hooker: "Chris is apparently excellent at reading people – an essential skill in his line of work" SEE WHAT I DID THERE? :oD
