Aw, I feel kinda bad that I don't have any ficcings for Chris' special day, 'specially since we made such a big deal out of Zach's birthday.  Chris, bb, we don't love you any less!  We just have Big Bangs and auction fics and unfinished epics that we keep being reminded about.  Or, you know, some of us.  ::sheepish grin::

So does anyone know when the deadline for dropping out of the RPF Big Bang is?  Because I have about 16,000 words of an old, old Pinto h/c (probably about 3/4 finished) that I can't decide if I want to try to knock into shape, or if I just want to set that aside and go back to shorter stuff for a while (excepting Turnabout Intruder, which is never far from my mind, I assure you).

Obviously, I am going through a bit of a transitional phase in my life at the moment, and have had less time for fandom.  I am going to try to officially schedule some time each day specifically for writing instead of just "eh, I'll try and get a bit in after lunch/before bed/whenever."  ACTUAL DISCIPLINE, WTF.  But I wrote and posted a Strunk/White all in one day, and that felt really good, so the writing mojo is still there, just... competing with more things these days.

yeah, i hear ya. i am not even going to say how little i have on either of my big bangs because i am still hoping to pull them out of the fire. but who knows. we'll see in, oh, a week. LOL.

yeah, i'm always happier when i'm writing more. but sometimes it's really hard; i get all caught in my head, and spend a month on a 5k fic.

and i'm horrible at personal discipline. which is biting me in the ass this week, so clearly i need to spend some more time on this. i say, as i write on lj. *sigh*...

I'm not sure there's a hard deadline for dropping out of the RPF BB? I could be completely wrong. I know that rough drafts of at least 10k (which you already have, hooray!) are due in a week.

I'm with you on needing to find a way to schedule official writing time. I'm more disciplined when I do this buddy thing with someone (usually eefreeboo or 1lostone) and we'll putz around for 10 mins and then do 20 mins bursts where we just write as much as we can without interruption. But by myself I'm totally useless and I end up looking at pics of Pinto or kittens.

I always feel terrible and like the worst kind of weirdo when I see how people struggle to fit writing time in.

My problem is always the opposite: I have to fight myself tooth and nail to fit LIFE in there somewhere between the cracks of the writing (and the thinking about the writing, and the wanting to write moar)...

Then again, if I ever go back to strictly my more "serious" writing and leave the fanporn behind, I'll probably have to force myself to do it some days.

I'll go through phases like that, where for a couple of weeks I'll be writing every spare moment I've got on any scrap of paper I can find.

But most of the time, I can't seem to get myself to write in 20 or 30 minute chunks during the day, or even an hour. Once I get going, I get going, and there's no stopping me. Due to my current living situation, me sitting in front of the computer for hours at a time during the day is seen as symptomatic of problems. So that leaves the night, which is also the ONLY time of the day when I have a little privacy.

Sigh... I think I need to teach myself to write in smaller chunks. Once I get a real life, that might be my only option.
